All Manga Mobile v.0.2.0

After weeks of development, we officially release All Manga Mobile v.0.2.0. This is a huge update (which is the reason it took so long for release).

Here's full changelogs:

  1. Added manga source on Advanced Search. Selecting specific manga sources might reduce your network workload significantly!
  2. Added more manga source. French, German, Indonesian, Italian and Spanish manga are now available!
  3. Changed reader significantly! This will result in very fast reading experience. This reader is in very beta phase. Please let us know if there's anything wrong.
  4. Beta offline reader. This will let you view images on one folder as manga with its navigation and things. And because it's still in beta phase, please let us know if there's anything wrong.
  5. Progress bar on reader.
  6. Pretty and more informative notification.
  7. Achievement has more info now.
  8. Faster read list loading (will be very slow first time but will be blazing fast later on).
  9. Added new scale mode.
  10. Search result fix for Android 4.0 above so the results can be sorted by name and rating.
  11. Fix more bugs.

New manga source selector. And new manga sources, too!

Beta offline reader. Open your images as manga from your favorite file browser.
And I (All Manga Mobile's programmer) learned a lot from this updates. I'll write some technical post about this later.

More features is coming up! Stay tuned!

  1. Do you preload the next few pages at all? When I switch pages, it often takes a couple seconds or longer with the progress bar stuck at about 80% before it goes to the next page. Every once in a while it gets stuck and never changes too.

    1. Yes we do. But I think it need some reworking since the way it works right now is not the best way I can think of.

We load ALL pages, instead only the next few pages. And we have the mechanism to unload the page when the memory is full (especially in low-end phones). So when we are reading page 4, and we actually finished downloading until page 20, page 5 has very high chance for being unloaded already (because the app load page 5, 6, 7, ..., 17, 18, 19 and would make the phone low on memory, hence unloading page 5 as most unused page). That's why when you are going to next page, the progress bar would stuck at 80%. Because we actually have the image, but the image is not loaded to memory yet (or more precisely already loaded, but then get unloaded).

I already have a solution for this, but don't have the chance to implement it yet. I should spare some time from RL for this :(

    2. That could explain it. After looking at the problem some more, larger images (generally those from Batoto) took more time, so I thought it might be an issue with scaling the images. I'm using a Nexus 7, and it happens going forward and backward single pages when the images are large enough, so maybe the image unloading is a bit overzealous?

My tablet also gets rather warm when dealing with high resolution pages.

  4. nice app. it does its job but i would suggest replacing the bouncing scroll with a normal one. sometimes it gets "stuck" and cannot see the whole page. i'm using a htc desire hd.
